what do I need to adjust if the door is too hard to open

Thanks for your question.
The Eclipse 73 Series is a fixed power Size 3 closer, so the opening force itself is not adjustable. The two adjustment valves only control the closing speed and latching speed.
If the door feels unusually hard to open, we would recommend checking that the closer body and arm have been fitted in the correct positions using the supplied fitting template, as incorrect arm positioning or preload can make the door feel heavier to operate.
We don’t currently have a fitting video for this model, but full fitting instructions are available for the Eclipse 73 Series.
